Chain-of-Thought (CoT) means models produce visible intermediate reasoning steps (e.g., calculations, explanations).

  • Advantages: Better accuracy on complex tasks, improved verifiability.
  • Caution: Can unintentionally reveal sensitive information—often used internally only.
  • Alternatives: Structured plans, scratchpads, program-aided reasoning.
